The Cincinnati Insurance Company
The Cincinnati Insurance Company is a successful insurer based in Ohio. Although they are not as large as some of the industry leaders, such as Allstate, GEICO, Progressive or State Farm, they do have a good piece of the insurance market share. In fact, they are one of the 20 largest casualty and disability insurance companies in the United States.
The Cincinnati Insurance Company (CIC) first opened for business in 1950. It was founded by four agents, including two brothers, John and Robert Schiff. During the past sixty plus years, the company has experienced phenomenal growth. They have gradually expanded from the original four agents to more than eleven hundred independent agents. The company now has a large corporate office in downtown Fairfield, Ohio, but most of the agents are able to work from their own homes.
As of 2011, CIC represents nearly 1% of all insurance policies in the United States. In our opinion, that’s no small feat given the fact that the company has such a small media presence. The company provides casualty and property insurance for cars, homes and businesses. The Cincinnati Insurance Company offers a wide range of products from a life insurance policy to investments. As of 2011, the company is one of the industry leaders, preparing itself for future growth. The company is based in Fairfield, Ohio. As of 2011, Steven Johnston is the CEO.
Many people confuse this insurance company with the Cincinnati Financial Company (CFC). In 1968, the Cincinnati Financial Company was formed. The Cincinnati Insurance Company is a subsidiary of the Cincinnati Financial Corporation. The Cincinnati Financial Corporation is a publicly traded company on the NASDAQ.
Kenneth Stecher (as of 2011) is the President of Cincinnati Financial Company. The CFC has nearly $8.5 billion in assets. This gives the Cincinnati Insurance Company strong financial backing. In addition, the company (CIC) employs nearly 4,000 associates (as of 2005), with nearly 2,800 people at the corporate office and 1100 individual agents.
