The Westfield Insurance Company
The Westfield Insurance Company, originally named the Ohio Farmers Insurance Company, was founded in 1848 by a group of farmers joining together to insure and protect their properties. This makes it one of the oldest insurance companies still doing business in the United States.
The company is currently the main subsidiary of the Westfield Group. Westfield Insurance is based in the small town of Westfield Center, Ohio. It is the largest employer there in Medina County.
The company remains true to its roots; it is one of the top ten farm insurance providers in the United States. It sells a wide range of personal insurance products, including automobile, homeowners and other specialty products. It also provides a large variety of commercial property and liability insurance policies, agribusiness insurance and financial products.
While surety products and business insurance policies are sold in thirty-one states, personal insurance policies are sold in ten: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and West Virginia.
In the event of an accident or loss, claims may be reported 24/7 by calling the company at 1-866-937-2663 or emailing their claims department at WestfieldCCC@Westfieldgrp.com. The company boasts a 95% overall customer satisfaction rate with their claims service.
Golf fans may recognize Westfield as owner of the Westfield Group Country Club, a 36-hold championship golf course where the Junior PGA Championship was held until 2007. The company also sponsors televised High School Scholastic Competitions such as Academic Challenge, BrainBusters, the Brain Game, Hometown High-Q, In the Know and Quizbusters.
As of December 2011, the company is rated an A for Excellent by A.M. Best, the leading independent insurance industry auditor. This is a good indicator of an insurance company’s ability to meet its insurance policy and contract obligations. In other words; its ability to pay outstanding claims.
Whether you are an investor, or shopping around for an automobile insurance policy, this seems to be a company to keep your eye on. If you live within the Westfield Insurance Company’s market area, make sure to get a policy quote before you make a final decision about which company to purchase a policy from. You might be pleasantly surprised. Westfield Insurance offers many of the same policy premium discounts as the other large insurance companies.
