Allstate Insurance Towing Reimbursement Coverage Review by Maryland Customer

I love my towing reimbursement coverage with Allstate (they call it JJ coverage for some reason). It has turned out to be a real financial benefit to my family, but not for obvious reasons.

When we bought our 2006 Toyota Sienna minivan, it came with run-on-flat tires; those tires that will let you continue on about 100 miles or so that you can find a place to change the tire for you. There is no place to carry a spare in the van because you are not supposed to need it.

Well, the first set of run-on-flats had to be replaced at about 14,000 miles. They were very expensive to replace. The second set had to be replaced after another 15,000 miles. Then at 40,000 miles I was told that I needed yet another set. I was pissed, to say the least. Honestly, I felt that I was never going to use one of these tires long enough for it to go flat. I told the manager of the place that was going to replace the tires (I think it was the Mr. Tire store in Mt. Airy) that I was sick of buying these really expensive tires and felt that they should at least be able to make it to 20,000 miles or so for the amount of money they cost. He recommended that I just put regular tires on the van and have it towed if I ever got a flat tire.

That’s where my Allstate towing reimbursement coverage comes in. It costs me next to nothing, and will reimburse me for towing to a repair shop or service station if I ever get a flat tire. For the first time in years, I spent a good bit less than $1000 on four new Michelin tires instead of spending much more. Though I am now to the point where I need new tires again, these regular tires have lasted me over 45,000 miles. I haven’t had a flat tire yet. I’ll have to get towed if I do, but honestly, I couldn’t see myself change a flat tire on the side of the road anyway. The only two times I have had a flat tire in my entire life, I was pregnant both times.

I have used the Allstate towing coverage a couple of times in the 10 years I've had an Allstate policy, though neither claim was due to a flat tire. I received a reimbursement check very quickly both times. The Allstate towing coverage allowed me to feel safe not buying tires that I really didn’t need, thus saving me a lot of money over the course of a couple of years.
