Maryland Reader Needed An Attorney to Help Her Settle Case
by Beth W.
I had an accident last summer and initially settled my injury claim with the other guy’s insurance company pretty quickly. The other guy knew that everything was his fault, so that wasn’t the problem. The insurance adjuster made me a settlement offer that seemed okay since I had only been to my primary care doctor once. I was still a little sore, but didn’t think it was so bad, so I accepted $1500 as settlement.
By the time I got the check for $1500 a few days later, my neck was really hurting and I was having headaches. I was getting worse, not better. I called the adjuster to tell her that I was going to need to go back to the doctor; she told me that I wasn’t going to get any more money. She told me that she had already sent a check for $1500. I told her that I hadn’t cashed the check yet and she told me that I should.
Long story short, I hired Saiontz & Kirk in Baltimore to handle my case. I just ripped up the original check; there is no settlement unless you cash it. It turned out that I only needed to go back to my doctor another two times. I saw a physical therapist about 10 times. I’m okay now. My case settled for $6000. I know that accidents happen. I wasn’t trying to get rich off anyone. I just wanted to be treated fairly, but without a lawyer, it didn’t seem like that was going to happen. If there is a next time, I’ll get a lawyer again and I won’t waste any time doing it. I don’t have time to be jerked around. This article is approved for informational purposes only and is not intended to take the place of competent local legal counsel.Lawyers Dirty Little Secrets!
