The Travelers Insurance Companies

Travelers Insurance was founded in Hartford, Connecticut in 1864. It may be most recognized through its logo of a signature red umbrella, which first appeared in a newspaper for the company in 1870.

The Travelers Companies, Inc currently holds the largest market share of American insurance policies. It also ranks among the very largest writers of personal and commercial property and casualty insurance policies. The company has headquarters in both St. Paul, Minnesota and Hartford, Connecticut. In addition to field offices in every one of the United States, it also has offices in Canada, China, Ireland, Singapore and the United Kingdom.

The insurer offers personal insurance, including automobile, homeowners, motorcycle, RV, personal umbrella (PUP) and other products. Its business insurance products also include a vast array of property and casualty insurance policies. Travelers also offers many different Financial, Professional and International Insurance products.

Travelers Insurance is also known for its philanthropic work. It supports many different charitable organizations through the Travelers Foundation, concentrating on public education reform and improving the scholastic and career success of underprivileged youth in the cities where its headquarters are located.

Golf fans may appreciate this: in 2007, the PGA Tour’s annual Greater Hartford Open was renamed the Travelers Championship golf tournament.

The Travelers Companies, Inc has a long history of success and is well prepared for even further growth. The company seems to have the required financial assets to position themselves for an even larger share of the U.S. insurance market.
